San Augustin Church, Pampanga, Philippines

Church Near Mt. Pinatubo

San Agustin Church in Lubao, Pampanga in the Philippines is really interesting because the ash that erupted from Mt. Pinatubo buried the first floor of this church. As a result, people built on top of the lahar. This church used to be much taller. For example, the three doors that you see in front of the building used to be the windows on the second floor level. It’s amazing to see what ingenuity can do.

  1. I visited this church last week on my journey to Subic from Manila. The people were very nice and knowledgeable. The attractions were interesting and authentic. I would recommend stopping here just to see some of the history that our land provides.
